Academic Discussions That Are Organized by The Athens Institute Take Place Everywhere in Athens

The mission of the Athens Institute is to bring together scholars from different disciplines and countries. Discussions take place formally as part of the sessions of the various academic events but, most importantly, informally as part of various gatherings, such as dinners, lunches, excursions, or simply meetings at cafés in downtown Athens. One such ad hoc meeting in a café occurred yesterday (1 June 2024), with the participation of members of the Athens Institute who happened to be in Athens for the philosophy, psychology, and history conferences. As shown in the picture (from left to right), participants in this meeting were Gregory T. Papanikos, President, The Athens Institute, Steven Oberhelman, Professor of Classics, Holder of the George Sumey Jr Endowed Professorship of Liberal Arts, and Interim Dean, Texas A&M University, USA & Vice President of International Programs, The Athens Institute, David Philip Wick, Director, Arts, Humanities and Education Division, The Athens Institute & Retired Professor of History, Gordon College, USA, Selin Onayli, Assistant Professor, TED University, Türkiye, Petros Satrazanis, PhD Candidate, University College Dublin, Ireland, Olga Gkounta, Researcher, The Athens Institute, Robert

These informal discussion meetings have now become a permanent part of the small academic gatherings that the Athens Institute organizes throughout the year. They have established a permanent venue and a regular day and time: Saturday morning. All scholars who happen to be in Athens are invited to attend.
