The social program emphasizes the pedagogical characteristics of the Academic Meetings of Atiner as explained in its Mission and should be considered as part of the academic program of the conference along the lines of the ancient meetings (symposiums) in Athens 2500 years ago. Some activities may change or adjusted for unforeseen reasons such as weather conditions, trade union strikes etc.(Please note that accompanying persons of the conference participants pay no registration fee and can participate to all social events paying only the cost of the event) |

Monday | 21:00-23:00 Athenian Early Evening Symposium It includes in order of appearance: continuous academic discussions, dinner, wine/water, music and dance. The meal includes main course, dessert and 250 ml of wine or soft drink per person. Please note that the dinner IS NOT a la carte and this includes drinks. Tuesday | 17:00-20:00 (approximate time) Athens Sightseeing: Old and New-An Educational Urban Walk The urban walk ticket is not included as part of your registration fee. It includes transportation costs and the cost to enter the Parthenon and the other monuments on the Acropolis Hill. The urban walk tour includes the broader area of Athens. Among other sites, it includes: Zappion, Syntagma Square, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Ancient Roman Agora and on Acropolis Hill: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the Parthenon. The program of the tour may be adjusted, if there is a need beyond our control. In some cases, the Acropolis Hill may not be accessible. In such cases, the group visits the New Acropolis Museum. 20:00-21:30 Ancient Athenian Dinner Offered by the President of the Athens Institute (minimum booking required) Ancient Athenian Dinner (includes in order of appearance: continuous academic discussions, dinner with recipes from ancient Athens, wine/water): Inside the Conference Venue. The seating arrangements are exclusively done by the Athens Institute’s staff. This is a private event organized by the Athens Institute exclusively for the conference participants and their accompanying persons. It requires pre-booking and is hosted by the President of the Athens Institute, assisted by all willing Symposiasts. The tasks include shopping, cooking, serving, and cleaning.
