A Special Session on “Toward an Effective Corporate Accountability and Governance Regime:
The Intersection of International and National Law”
as part of the 16th Annual International Conference on Global Studies
19-22 December 2022, Athens, Greece
ATINER is organizing a Special Session on “Toward an Effective Corporate Accountability and Governance Regime: The Intersection of International and National Law”, 19-22 December 2022, Athens, Greece as part of the 16th Annual International Conference on Global Studies.
The central objective of the session is to strengthen the argument on MNC Accountability and Remedy for Human Rights Violations, as well as to present a new practical paradigm for international and national legal actions against human rights violations by MNCs in a host or home states. The problem of corporate human rights violations is one of social, economic, financial policy, legal personality, ethics, integrity and enforcement. The session will focus on the obligations derived from the concept of accountability as:
- Accountability by mandating;
- Clear standards and legal duties that must be met by duty holders;
- Requirements for effective accountability relationships;
- Legal requirements for transparency and information disclosure;
- Legal and formal institutions and mechanisms to hold duty holders to account; and
- Legally established and effective sanctions for those who are not accountable
You may participate as presenter of one paper or observer.
Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/fees.
Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, an Athens educational walking tour and one-day visit to Delphi. Details of the social program are available here.
