A Microsymposium on “Productive Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth”
as part of the 12th Annual International Conference on Business, Law & Economics
5-8 May 2025, Athens, Greece
The Business, Economics and Law Division (BLRD) of the Athens Institute is organizing, is organizing a Microsymposium on “Productive Entrepreneurship for Economic Growth” as part of the 12th Annual International Conference on Business, Law & Economics, 5-8 May 2025, Athens, Greece, sponsored by the Athens Journal of Business & Economics.
Productive entrepreneurship remains an urgent concern for both government and practitioners, including employers in the developing nations. In addition to fostering the entrepreneurial capacity of students, and academics, it is imperative that students become economically active during and after their studies and pursue self-employment rather than paid employment. The evidence of the need to strengthen productive entrepreneurship can be found in extant literature many of which pose the following questions:
- At what level should entrepreneurship education start?
- To what extent has the current curriculum facilitated entrepreneurial uptake?
- What opportunities exist to make entrepreneurship education an attractive field of study?

Other pertinent questions are (1) what pedagogical stance should entrepreneurship education take? (2) In what ways would entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship uptake be advanced? (3) What are the necessary ingredients to advance entrepreneurship development in higher education?
You may participate as a presenter of one paper, or observer.
Please submit an abstract (email only) to: atiner@atiner.gr, using the abstract submission form by 25 March 2025 to: Dr. Chux Gervase Iwu, Professor & SBDG Chair Entrepreneurship in Higher Education, University of the Western Cape, South Africa.

Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate (please book in advance, at least 2 months before). In addition, a number of special events will be organized which give a great opportunity to further discuss the issues presented at the microsymposium. From the Athens Institute’s long experience these events bring together scholars from different countries and disciplines which may result to research collaborations and joint publications. These events include a pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine-tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycenae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, a day trip to Delphi, and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit. Details of the social program are available here.
