A Microsymposium on “Global Economic Impacts of the Russia-Ukraine War”

The Economics Unit of the Athens Institute is organizing a Microsymposium on “Global Economic Impacts of the Russia-Ukraine War” as part of the 21st Annual International Symposium on Economic Theory, Policy and Applications, 29-30 June & 1-3 July 2026, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Business & Economics.
The microsymposium aims to foster rigorous analysis and interdisciplinary dialogue on the short- and long-term economic consequences of the conflict at national, regional, and global levels.

Topics of Interest (indicative): Macroeconomic effects and growth dynamics, Energy markets, prices, and security, Trade disruptions, sanctions, and supply chains, Inflation, monetary policy, and financial stability, Public finance, fiscal responses, and debt, Labor markets, migration, and human capital, Development, inequality, and social welfare, Regional and global spillovers, Reconstruction, resilience, and recovery strategies.
You may participate as a presenter of one paper and/or an attendee.
Selected papers from this microsymposium will be considered in a Special Issue of the Athens Journal of Business & Economics.
Please submit an abstract (by email only) to: atiner@atiner.gr, using the abstract submission form by 10 March 2026 to: Dr. Gregory T. Papanikos, President, Athens Institute. Abstracts should include the following details: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Affiliation, Current Position, an email address, and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission. Decisions are reached within 4 weeks.

From the Athens Institute’s long experience these events bring together scholars from different countries and disciplines which may result to research collaborations and joint publications. These events include a pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine-tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycenae visit, an Athens educational walking tour, a day trip to Delphi, and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit.
