About
The Center for European & Mediterranean Affairs was founded in 2016 to promote the study of the European Union, as well as the historical, political, cultural, economic, and societal relations between Europe and the countries of the southern and eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Center’s mission is to:
- Foster the study of European and Mediterranean affairs
- Promote innovative research on issues related to the European Union and the Mediterranean region
- Facilitate the training of new generations of scholars and experts in issues pertaining to the European Union and the Mediterranean region, as well as to the relations between the EU Member States and the Mediterranean non-EU countries
- Serve as a forum for vibrant discussions on history and contemporary affairs which nurture the exchange of ideas across disciplines, nations, and generations.
The Center’s resources support and facilitate grants for student research, student internships, visiting scholars, and a number of programmatic activities.
The Center for European & Mediterranean Affairs publishes the Athens Journal for Mediterranean Studies and organizes two annual international conferences.
