Dr. Gohar Marikyan (Professor, SUNY Empire State University, USA)
has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as Deputy Director of the Sciences Division
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Gohar Marikyan (Professor, SUNY Empire State University, USA), has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as Deputy Director of the Sciences Division.
As Deputy Director, Dr. Marikyan will collaborate with the Division Director, Dr. Ampalavanar Nanthakumar, Professor, State University of New York (Oswego), USA; the Division Deputy Directors, Dr. Nikolaos Dimakis, Professor and Chair, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, USA; and Dr. Isaac T. Rampedi, Associate Professor, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, in organizing all conferences and small symposia hosted by the division.
Additionally, she will serve as Co-Editor of the Athens Journal of Sciences & the Athens Journal of Τechnology & Engineering.
Professor and advisor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Metropolitan Center of Empire State College, SUNY. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics (Mathematical Logic) and an M.S. in Computer Science (Theory of Algorithms). Her research focuses on mathematical logic in computer science and the history of math education, with work published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.Dr. Marikyan has received the Turnab Chair in Mentoring award (2020) and the Susan H. Turben Award for Excellence in Scholarship (2012). She teaches Mathematics, Computer Science, and related courses in-person and online. Born in Armenia, she participated in the first Armenian NGO and has conducted research in the U.S. She is also working on creative writing, manuscripts, and a book on Armenian dolls.
