has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as the next Deputy Head of the Anthropology & Demography Unit
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Nicole Farris (Professor, Texas A&M University-Commerce, USA) has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as the next Deputy Head of the Anthropology & Demography Unit
As Deputy Head, Dr. Farris will collaborate with the Division Director, Dr. Philip G. Cerny, Professor Emeritus at the University of Manchester (UK) and Rutgers University (USA); the Head of the Anthropology & Demography Unit, Dr. Barbara Zagaglia, Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Marche (Italy); and the Deputy Head, Dr. Radebe Nompumelelo, Senior Lecturer and Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of South Africa, in organizing all conferences and small symposia hosted by the unit.
Additionally, she will serve as Associate Editor of the Athens Journal of Demography & Anthropology & the Athens Journal of Social Sciences.
Dr. Nicole Farris is a Professor of Sociology at East Texas A&M University, where she combines her lifelong passion for observing and understanding people with a deep commitment to teaching, research, and community. A native Texan, Farris holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Texas A&M University–College Station and has held academic positions across the South, including at the University of West Alabama and Texas A&M University-Commerce. Her research focuses on demography, gender, family, and sociological methodology, and she has published extensively on these topics, including several books with Springer Publishers. Outside the classroom, Farris is an engaged scholar, a member of multiple professional organizations, and an enthusiastic collaborator. When she’s not writing or teaching, she enjoys relaxing with her two beloved pitbulls, her energetic ginger cat, and a close circle of friends. Whether mentoring students or exploring the nuances of social life, Farris is driven by a desire to see the world more clearly and connect meaningfully with others.
