A Symposium on “Eighty Years After World War II: Causes, Resistance, and Consequences”

under the auspices of the Athens Journal of History & the Athenian Academic Periodical
The Athens Institute is organizing a Symposium on “Eighty Years After World War II: Causes, Resistance, and Consequences”, 30-31 October & 1-2 November 2025, Athens, Greece.
The symposium aims to explore the causes of the war, resistance movements, and its far-reaching consequences across nations and generations. Papers from all areas of history, political science, sociology, international relations, cultural studies, and related fields are welcome. As part of the symposium a special event on “Countries, leaders, and peoples who said NO to the Axis powers during World War II!” will be organized.
Selected papers will be considered for publication in the Athens Journal of History (Editor: Dr. Steven Oberhelman, Vice President of International Programs, ATINER & Professor of Classics, Holder of the George Sumey Jr Endowed Professorship of Liberal Arts, and Interim Dean, Texas A&M University, USA.)

Please submit an abstract (email only) to: atiner@atiner.gr, using the abstract submission form by 15 September 2025 to: Dr. Nicholas Pappas, Vice President of Academic Conferences and Meetings, Athens Institute & Professor of History (Retired), Sam Houston University, USA.
Abstracts should include the following: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Affiliation, Current Position, an email address, and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission. Decisions are reached within 4 weeks.
Fee structure information is available below:
a) €400 (euro): | Covering access to all sessions, two lunches, coffee breaks, conference material and the Ancient Athenian Dinner (Thursday Night). |
b) €675 (euro): | Covering access to all sessions, two lunches, coffee breaks, conference material and participation for one person in: 1) Ancient Athenian Dinner (Thursday Night); 2) Visit to Selected Islands-Cruise (Saturday); 3) Visit of the Oracle of Delphi (Sunday). |
