A Small Symposium on “Hospitality Management Education”
as part of the 18th Annual International Conference on Tourism
6-9 June 2022, Athens, Greece
Sponsored by the Athens Journal of Tourism
The Tourism, Leisure & Recreation Unit of ATINER organizes a Small Symposium on “Hospitality Management Education” as part of the 18th Annual International Conference on Tourism, 6-9 June 2022, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Tourism.
Hospitality education is a branch of the overall hospitality industry that is dedicated to providing the industry with well educated, adequately trained, and committed workforce. Universities missions are based on learning and exploration. Academics are involved in teaching, research, and service to the community. An academic department must operate within the university resources and within the global educational system, research, and economic environment. Tourism and hospitality related programs at universities face a dilemma, they must adhere to traditional academic competences to match other business-related bachelor degree programs while at the same time, must consider the industry needs as they prepare future employees and managers. To assure sustainability of hospitality management programs, several tactical and strategic decisions have been made. This symposium is an opportunity to share experiences, best practices, and discuss issues that face such academic programs, in an effort to benefit educators and administrators of hospitality management programs.
You may participate as presenter of one paper, chair a session or observer.
Selected papers will be published in the Athens Journals of Tourism edited by Dr. Peter Jones, Professor of Management, University of Gloucestershire, U.K.
Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/fees.
Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized, including a pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine-tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycenae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, a day trip to Delphi, and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit.
