The Sports Unit of the Athens Institute organizes its 25^th Annual International Conference on Sports: Economic, Management, Marketing & Social Aspects, 12-15 May 2025, Athens, Greece in collaboration with the Panhellenic Association of Sports Economists and Managers (PASEM) sponsored by the Athens Journal of Sports. 

The aim of the conference is to bring together academics and researchers of all areas of sports. 

Participants can present on sports topics within broad streams of research areas. Areas of interest include (but are not confined to): the Impacts of Olympic Games, Professional Sports, Sport-Scheduling, Sports Tourism, Sports Law, Sports Communication, Sports & Media, Sports & Society, Sport Psychology, Sports Violence, Sports & Education, Sports & Ethics, Sport Technology, Sports and Computer Applications, Sports & Information Technology, Sport Services and Sports History. Also, special sessions will be organized for individual sports (soccer, football, baseball, basketball, handball, ice hockey, tennis, car racing, gymnastics etc).

Consistent with the theme of the Athens Institute’s small academic events, all programs may include a few sessions on current topics in education and research.

Please note that all our conferences are non-thematic as explained in our policy (click here). However, academic members and friends can take the lead to organize and chair a stream as part of this conference. This conference has been organized with great success for more than two decades. Since 2000, close to 1,000 researchers have presented their work, coming from 70 different countries:: Albania, Algeria, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mozambique, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkiye, UAE, UK, Ukraine & USA.

Please submit an abstract (email only) to: atiner@atiner.gr, using the abstract submission form to  Dr. Gregory T. Papanikos, President, Athens Institute or Dr. Maria Kosma Head, Sports Unit, Athens Institute & Associate Professor, Louisiana State University, USA. Abstracts should include the following: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Affiliation, Current Position, an email address, and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission. Decisions are reached within 4 weeks.
