Aristotle (384-322)

The Philosophy Unit and the Physics Unit of the Athens Institute, are organizing a Microsymposium on “Philosophy of Physics” as part of the 21st Annual International Conference on Philosophy 25-29 May 2026, Athens, Greece.

This microsymposium aims to explore the deep philosophical questions underlying modern physics, including the nature of space and time, the interpretation of quantum mechanics, the role of symmetry in physical laws, and the philosophical implications of cosmology. We welcome papers from philosophers, physicists, and interdisciplinary researchers.

Selected papers will be considered for publication in the Athens Journal of Philosophy and in the Athens Journal of Sciences.

Please submit an abstract (email only) to: atiner@atiner.gr, using the abstract submission form by 21 October 2025 to: Dr. Robert Bishop, Head, Philosophy Unit, Athens Institute & Professor, Wheaton College, USA.

Abstracts should include the following: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Affiliation, Current Position, an email address, and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission. Decisions are reached within 4 weeks.

Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/fees.

Dr. Bishop has published a new book titled An Introduction to Chaotic Dynamics, released by the Institute of Physics Press. The book is available here: https://store.ioppublishing.org/page/detail/An-Introduction-to-Chaotic-Dynamics/?K=9780750364539.

This introductory text explores the foundations of chaos theory and its relevance to physical systems, making it an ideal resource for students and researchers in physics and related disciplines.
This new volume serves as a companion to Dr. Bishop’s earlier work, The Physics of Emergence (Second Edition), also published by IOP Press in the summer of 2024. Together, these books provide a comprehensive framework for understanding complex systems, emergent phenomena, and dynamical behavior in modern physics.
