as part of the 4thAnnual International Conference on Nursing
7-10 May 2018, Athens, Greece
Sponsored by the Athens Journal of Health

The Nursing Unit of ATINER organizes a Stream on “Social Determinants of Health and Community Based Nursing” as part of the 4thAnnual International Conference on Nursing, 7-10 May 2018, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Health.

The World Health Organization has emphasized the importance of acknowledging the role of environment, place and global, national and local resources on health equity. These factors comprise the social determinants of health which continues to impact the health of communities across the globe. Strategies which incorporate knowledge from nursing and interdisciplinary teams are imperative to making significant impact on health conditions.

This stream aims to examine, explore and understand the social, community and network factors that contribute to health outcomes among vulnerable populations. The factors can include neighborhood conditions, poverty, network characteristics, community based resources and assets, gender equity, and health systems and their impact on health inequalities locally and abroad.

Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycanae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, an one-day visit to Delphi and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit.
