Compassion

A Stream on Compassion
as part of the 6th Annual International Conference on Nursing
4-7 May 2020, Athens, Greece
Sponsored by the Athens Journal of Health and Medical Sciences

The Nursing Unit of ATINER is organizing a Stream on Compassion, 4-7 May 2020, Athens, Greece as part of the 6th Annual International Conference on Nursing, 4-7 May 2020, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Health and Medical Sciences.

The changing global landscape of healthcare is situated within complex multifaceted systems, underpinned by professional, political, economic, social and demographic drivers coupled with advancing science and a fast-paced digital age. However, the beating heart of all these complex and dynamic influences is the ability to tap into the human lived-in experience and deliver safe and ethical compassionate care. Patients’ experience compassion when-ever they experience their basic needs being met in gentle, respectful ways that acknowledge their unique humanity, paying attention to what really matters to them. It is reported that it is the essential ‘ordinary care’ which matters most to them, and not those grand heroic gestures. You may participate as presenter of one paper, or observer.

Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycanae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, an one-day visit to Delphi and an Ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit. Details of the social program are available here.

Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/fees.
