property owners have decided to sell the land to ATINER. |

A new government
decision allows to build about 6,000 square meters in the Aulida
property of 300,000 square meters (see Government Gazette No. 219/26 August
2011) |
2009-2010 |
A
decision has been made to go ahead with the Aulida
site. Now, the difficult task starts with the building permission and the
infamous Greek bureaucracy. |
2nd of April 2009 |
A
meeting took place between a construction company, the President (Gregory T.
Papanikos) and the three consultants of the Institute (Mr. Fortis, Mr.
Kritikos and Mr. Kardaras) for an area in North-Eastern Attica. A preliminary
agreement was signed. By the end of the month we will have details and by the
end of May we should be able to decide whether we can go ahead. |

The President
(Gregory T. Papanikos), the Vice-President (Nick Pappas) and the Secretary
(Chris Sakellariou) of the Institute met with the owner and land developers
of an area in the vicinity of Corinth.

A lot
was found in Marathon and an application was made to the Ministry of Culture.
The decision was not positive because the area is considered of
archaeological interest. |
Summer

A
number of lots were examined in the area of Attica and the surrounding
Prefectures of Boiotia, Korinthia and Argolida but no decision was made. More
than 10 lots were inspected. |

letter was sent to the Mayor of Grammatiko expressing an interest to establish

The City of Grammatiko is located in Attica, next to the Village of Marathon
(Athens
belongs to the prefecture of Attica). Our
interest is for a lot in the area of Rhamnous. |

with a letter to our letter of the 12th
of January 2006. |

of ATINER (Gregory T. Papanikos, Theo Theophanides, Mike-Frank G.
Epitropoulos, George Boletis) and our Legal and Technical Advisors met with
Mr Grigoris Niotis at ATINER’s office to discuss the implementation process. |
December
31, 2005 |
The
President (G.T. Papanikos) and the Vice-President (N. Pappas) met with the MP
and ex Minister Grigoris Niotis to discuss the possibility of establishing
the village as part of the Greek Government’s Policy of Omogeneiaka Xoria
(for Greeks abroad). This means that the land will be given for free and the
infrastructure will be subsidized by the Greek state. Mr Niotis is the
Vice-President of the Permanent
Parliamentary Committee on Greeks Abroad. |

The
Executive Committee of ATINER discussed the details of the project and
decided to hire a legal expert (Mr Alexandros Voutsas) and a Technical Advisor (Mr. Christos
Spirtzis). |

The General Assembly of the Athens
Institute for Education and Research decided to explore the opportunity to
establish an Academic Village. Marathon was chosen to be the first priority
of a potential location. Loutraki and Delphi were also mentioned as potential
sites. In the same meeting, it was decided to establish chapters of ATINER in
USA, Canada, Asia, Australia and Europe. |
