sponsored by the Athens Journal of Business & Economics
The Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER) is organizing A Panel on Place Branding, 24-27 July 2017, Athens, Greece as part of the 5th Annual International Colloquium on Branding sponsored by the Athens Journal of Business & Economics.
It is well recognised that places are brands. Places brands include region brands (i.e. Mediterranean region), country brands (i.e. Greece), cities brands (i.e. Athens), specific location brands (i.e. Monastiraki area) or specific places or monuments (i.e. Acropolis). These brands are of a very complex nature due to a number of factors, including to the number of stakeholders that are involved in the development of the place identity and the place reputation (from the country authorities to the owners of small local businesses), the number of diverse audiences that they are approaching (i.e. tourists, investors, inhabitants) and the varied requirements of these audiences. We are organising in the Mediterranean region and in particular in Athens, close to the Acropolis and Monastiraki area a meeting to discuss about place branding and the challenges that those involved in the development and consumption of the place brand confront. We are looking to hear about branding issues that various places all around the world in relation to their place brands and to share our expertise in the issue.
