3nd Educational Justice Conference, Tuesday 22 July 2025
On 22 July 2025, the 3rd Educational Justice Conference was held at the Athens Institute’s Downtown Office in Athens, in collaboration with the Educational Justice Journal. The session featured presentations by distinguished academics:
- Dr. Valencia Hicks-Harris (Duke University, USA) – AI, Mindfulness, and CRSP in K-12 STEM Classrooms.
- Dr. G. Michele Jolivette (Virginia State University, USA) – Trauma vs Trauma.
- Dr. Kelisha Graves (Virginia State University, USA) – Strengthening Educational Partnerships Between Africa and Historically Black Colleges and Universities: A Study of Selected HBCU Leaders’ Perspectives.
- Ms. Arifah Goodwin (Virginia State University, USA) – Black Women in Leadership: Confronting Gender, Racial Biases, Work-Life Balance, and the Role of Media.
- Dr. Valeisha Ellis (Spelman College, USA) – Transformative and Innovative Artificial Intelligence Pedagogy for K-12 Education.
Following the session, Dr. Gregory T. Papanikos, President of the Athens Institute, held a follow-up meeting with Dr. Linda Taylor (Executive, Educational Justice Institute), Dr. Chevelle Hall (Associate Professor, Virginia State University, USA), and the speakers.
The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on the conference’s themes, exchange ideas, and explore potential directions for future collaboration within the Educational Justice series.
