Dr. Snezhana Filipova (Professor, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, North Macedonia)
has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as the next Deputy Head (Byzantine History) of the
 History Unit

Prof. Snezhana Filipova

Professor Filipova Snežana, graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Skopje (1987) and earned her MA at CEU Budapest (1994). She completed doctoral studies in Art History at the University of Belgrade (2005). She has held positions at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje since 1988, becoming full professor in 2014. She authored six books and over 60 scholarly papers, presenting at more than 80 international conferences. Filipova has been involved in various academic boards and committees, including the Macedonian Archaeological Association and the International Academy for the Promotion of Historical Studies. Her research focuses on Early Christian and medieval art, heraldry, and art history methodology. She has lectured widely across Europe and Russia and contributed to several cultural heritage and EU-funded projects. Fluent in English and Serbian, she is also active in photography and cultural activities.

As the Deputy Head, Prof. Filipova will collaborate with the Director (Dr. David Philip Wick, Retired Professor of History, Gordon College, USA) and the Deputy Director (Dr. Krasimir Kabakciev) of the Arts, Humanities and Education Division in the organization of all the conferences (small symposiums) organized by the Division. He will also serve as associate editor of the Athens Journal of History and the Athens Journal of Humanities & Arts.
