Visit Aristotle’s Lyceum
Monday 25 May 2026
The Athens Institute organized on Monday, 25 May 2026 a visit to Aristotle’s Lyceum, in the context of the 21st Annual Conference on Philosophy (www.atiner.gr/2026phi-pro).
The visit was led by Dr. Robert Bishop (Head, Philosophy Unit, Athens Institute & Professor, Wheaton College, USA) & Dr. Oidinposha Pulatovna Imamkhodjaeva (Deputy Head, Philosophy Unit, Athens Institute & Assistant Teaching Professor, Pennsylvania State University, USA). At the Lyceum, participants had the opportunity to continue the academic discussion at the very place where Aristotle once taught.
The visit was followed by a walk around some of Athens’ most emblematic landmarks, including the Panathenaic Stadium (Kallimarmaro), the National Garden, and the Zappeion Megaron, as well as the Parliament building at Syntagma Square. The program concluded in the historic Plaka area at a traditional taverna with an Athenian Early Evening Symposium, including ongoing academic discussions, dinner, wine, music, and dance.
This event offered participants a unique opportunity to connect physically and intellectually with the philosophical and historical heritage of Athens.
