Dr. Teodoro Georgiadis (Senior Research Associate, CNR – IBE, Italy)
has accepted the offer from the Athens Institute to serve as the next Deputy Head of the Environment Unit

Dr. Georgiadis holds a diverse educational background with doctorates in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Bologna, as well as degrees in Landscape Planning and Civil Engineering from University Guglielmo Marconi Rome. Currently serving as a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for BioEconomy (IBE) of the National Research Council, Dr. Georgiadi’s research focuses on surface energy balances, air-vegetation interactions,

and the meteo-climatology of urban environments. In addition to his research, he plays a significant role in various commissions and committees, including his position in the National Commission of Environment and Health and the Italian High Commission for the Quality of Living of the Ministry of the Infrastructures. He also served as the Scientific Secretary of the Italian IUGG Commission and coordinates the Energy and Environment pillar in the Regional High Technology Network. His contributions extends to the participation as Italian Delegate to the WMO-SERCOM Conferences and as Expert Reviewer for the Framework Programmes EC.

As the Deputy Head, Dr. Georgiadis will collaborate with the Head of the Environment Unit (Dr. Nadhir Al-Ansari, Professor, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden) and the Director of the Sciences Division (Dr. Ampalavanar Nanthakumar, Professor, State University of New York , Oswego, USA.) in the organization of all the conferences (small symposiums) organized by the Division and the Unit. He will also serve as associate editor of the Athens Journal of Sciences.
