Value Assessment & Management of Ecosystem Services from an Economic Perspective
as part of the 12th Annual International Conference on Global Studies: Business, Economic, Political, Social and Cultural Aspects
Stream Leader: Dr. Ying Zhang, Academic Member, ATINER & Professor, School of Economics & Management, Beijing Forestry University, China.
Evaluation and management of ecosystem services is a hot issue in the world at present. However, most evaluation and management is based on the theory and method of ecology and other natural sciences, ignoring the theory and method of economics. Therefore, it is of great significance to discuss the evaluation and management of ecosystem services from the perspective of economics to promote the quantitative management of ecosystem services. It is proposed to adopt normative economic theories and methods and on the basis of the United Nations SEEA2012 (System of Environmental and Economic Accounting) and EEA(SEEA Experimental Ecosystem Accounting) etc. to evaluate the value of ecosystem service and management, such as using the welfare economics theory and methods, and the costs and benefits of evaluation methods etc. and to explore and solve related management problems in order to provide the basis for policy making and environmental management. The major ecosystems include land, water, grasslands and wetlands ecosystems etc.
